THE INVENTION OF TATARSTAN DEVELOPERS TO BE PRESENTED AT THE LARGEST HIGH TECHNOLOGY FESTIVAL IN RUSSIA

31 july 2013

Tatarstan young developers – students of the Youth Innovation Creativity Centre “Idea” will present a new 3D-printer model at the Russia’s largest Festival dedicated to the high technology – Geek Picnic. The presentation will be held on August 3-4 in St. Petersburg (Elagin island).

As explained by students of the Youth Innovation Creativity Centre, consisting of students of Kazan universities and upper graders of Lyceum No. 145, the development of new model took 5 months.    “During this time we studied previous models and discussed with experts and users the advantages and disadvantages of existing 3D-printers” - told the students. Having done the preliminary work, the YICC’s students started creating their own model, consisting mainly of Russian components, part of the components was obtained by order from the other developers and the other part was manufactured by the team on the already assembled 3D-printers.

According to the team leader Iskander Mukhamedyarov, the new 3D-printer model, compared with the existing models, shows the high printing speed, metal case, high quality as well as the simplicity and ease of use.

As the developers noted, the 3D-printer model will be soon commercialized under the name “NOVA”.

To date, there is the first customer. The Company "Fahrenheit" from Naberezhnye Chelny, engaged in the packaged supply, installation and maintenance of space heating system, will apply 3D-printer to render their engineering solutions for the customer.

The Central Federal District and Moscow Company are also engaged in discussion about the dealership and the promotion of 3D-printers under the name “NOVA”. Moscow Company will present the invention of Tatarstan developers on its stand.

“The order schedules will be about 1.5-2 months. The second batch is expected to reduce the production period to 1 month”, - explained the young developers.

“Currently, the team of the 3D-printer developers have a tight squeeze in the YICC, and the issue of the establishment of small innovative company (SIC) is now under consideration, - said the head of the Project ”Creation of the YICCs Network in the Republic of Tatarstan” Nicholay Nasonov. - This does not mean that the team will not be allowed to the YICC, students will proceed with their work, will conduct prototyping classes with their age mates, share knowledge and experience”.

However, engineering solutions of the team are not only limited to this model: the students are working on the creation of another 3D-printer model and the production (synthesis) of various prototyping consumables. “The joined team will be able to solve these problems”, convinced Nicholay Nasonov.

To the point, the open-air Geek Picnic - 2013, dedicated to the high technology, the arts and sciences will be conditionally divided into 5 areas:

- technology (presentation of the latest 3D printing and robotics technologies and developments);

- science (the ability to communicate with the leading Russian scientific expositors, visiting an entertaining science museum, etc.);

- art (information on contemporary art and its position in the world and the artist role in the new society, the opportunity to take part in the installations, visit the contemporary art exhibition, view the tech-art exhibits);

- picnic;

- expo (presentation of the computers history and designer goods exhibition).

Tatarstan youth will present its development in the “Technology” area, where students will also have the opportunity to communicate with leading inventors, cybernetics, scientists and astronauts, to visit an exhibition of robots, electronics, 3D-printers and augmented reality, as well as watch the Russian quadcopter championship.

For reference:

The YICC “Idea” was organized in accordance with the Contest of efficient use of open youth innovative prototyping centres network, announced by the RF Ministry of Economic Development in November, 2011.

The Republic of Tatasrtan has become one of the 13 winner regions. The total number of regional YICCs is over 30, and 10 of which are located in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Russia’s first official opening of the YICC “Idea” was held in Kazan on February 27, 2013. The Centre is fitted with modern universal prototyping equipment that can be used from 10 to 15 persons at one time.  Laser gravers, 3D-scanners, milling machines and 3D-printers, allowing to produce prototypes of any complexity and dimension in the shortest possible time, provide a strong basis for the development and promotion of the youth technical creativity and extension of the children creativity centers network of the new generation.

Russia’s first official opening of the YICC “Idea” was held at Technopark “Idea” on February 27, 2013.

In addition to the 3D-prototyping development, the YICC in cooperation with Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University is currently engaged in the manufacturing equipment for the new project, which will be attended by Kazan schoolchildren and students. The first project results are expected in September.
